Our Next Guild Meeting will be on
Saturday 16th November 2019
Our next Guild meeting will be our last meeting of 2019 and will be our annual Christmas Get Together with a shared lunch/tea, please bring something to share. We always put on a lovely spread between us.
The meeting will again be themed around Christmas crafts, how to make decorative Christmas fir cones, Christmas baubles with ribbon and we are delighted to welcome back Fran Rushworth who will show us how to make needle felted Christmas Fairies. We have lots of clean fleece, a variety of coloured tops, silk, ribbon etc which everyone is welcome to use. If you have a family Christmas craft or tradition that you’d like to share with everyone please bring them along.
We will have a Christmas raffle and our Competition, the theme this year is "Lace and Laces", entries can be anything as long as it involves at least one of our disciplines, there will be a prize for the winner to keep as well as holding the Pat Williams bud vase for a year.
The Gloucestershire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers is affiliated to the national Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (www.wsd.org.uk).
Monthly meetings (January to November) are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month at Norton Village Hall (GL2 9LJ). The programme of events consists of a variety of speakers and workshops related to our crafts.
During the morning the hall is open from 10am for members and guests to join in a spinning/weaving session during which people can chat and exchange information and techniques over a cup of coffee. Guild meetings then follow at 1.45pm, before our guest speaker is introduced at 2pm. Our meetings end at 4pm.
The aim of the guild is to promote the art of weaving, spinning and dyeing. To support this, an independent workshop is run by a guild member twice a month on the Wednesday following the monthly meeting and again two weeks later, during which tuition and support is offered to those who attend, no matter their level of ability. Many existing and new guild members attend these workshops.
The guild also gives demonstrations at a number of events throughout the year.
